The International Society of Krishna Consciousness has built several  beautiful temples across India  and presently they are in the last  phase of finishing the  largest temple on earth  called  Vedic Planetarium at Mayapur, WB. What is special about this mammoth  project  is that it will have the largest dome in the world  with a height 113 meters height, next to St Peter’s Basilica that is  that is 138-metre high. The very purpose of this mega project is to focus on the  spreading of the Vedic knowledge  as  envisaged by late Acharya Prabhupada. The reason for choosing   Mayapur  is  because it is the birthplace of the Vaishnava saint, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu who propounded  Gaudiya Vaishnavism.

After a pretty long waiting period  of more than 10 years, the people got a chance to  see the inside of the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium (TOVP) at Mayapur (130 km from Kolkata) of Nadia District, WB  headquarters of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. This city is located on the banks of the Ganges river, at the point of its confluence  of Jalangi River with Bhagirathi,  near Nabadwip.  This birth place of Chaitanya Mahaprabu is quite popular and more than a million devotees come here annually  on a pilgrimage. There are several religious and educational institutions under the management of ISKON. Also located here is Srila Prabhupada’s Pushpa Samadhi Mandir.

The temple is being built at a cost of Rs 700 crore,  An interesting fact is the involvement of a member of the Ford car family.  Ambarish Das or Alfred Ford  (Henry Ford’s grandson),  a scion of the American car  family is playing a lead role in the construction of this temple.  It is said by 2022 the temple  will be open to  public. It will be on an auspicious day - Gaura Purnima. The work on the temple began roughly 20 years ago  and a total of roughly 20 million kg of cement went into the building. Total cost will be roughly  100 million, according to the media report.

Three primary  deities of the temple are Radha Madhava, PancPancha Tattva and Narasimha. Perhaps for the first time,  The founder of Gaudiya Vaishnavism, will be addressed as the Prince of Nabadwip in this temple.   These Pancha Tattva deities are  believed to be the largest deities of Pancha Tattva in the world. (?) .  The Panca-tattva comprises Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Nityananda Prabhu, Advaita Acharya, Gadadhara Pandit, and Srivas Thakur.
